Summer, Salads and Early Morning's

Summer has arrived and with nice weather comes the challenge of summer meals. Of course there is always hot dogs, hamburg, and the fixings, but some times I get tired of that stuff and so last night I fixed PB&J sandwiches and Broccoli Salad. It was a nice change of pace and tasted great. I made potato salad the other night but served that with Hamburgers. I think I will be doing a fruit salad soon, and I have been using store bought Three Bean Salad already. Of course there is always Toss Salad too and Pasta Salad. I think I will be doing a lot of Salads this summer.

Now Early Mornings, well that hasn't happened a lot as of late, but this morning, Bruce had to be in Salt Lake early so we got up at 6 AM. It gave me a chance to get a lot done before the rest of the house woke up. I was able to read my scriptures, mop my dinning room floor, and kitchen floor. Clean up the kitchen, and  to check my email list. It is nice to have that all done for the day, now I can do some other things that might not have gotten done if I hadn't started so early. It feels good to get going early, and I think maybe I should do it more often. I have gotten into a habit of sleeping in until 8 AM or after and then running behind all day. So maybe I have learned something here, I have been missing out on some precious time by sleeping in later.

Summer is a fun time and I am enjoying the less hectic pace that we are having right now. This year has been so far a whirl wind of events and been very busy. But , as of late it seems like we are slowing down to more normal and although we still have a big move to make later this year, for the most part things are really much more normal. I am thankful for that.

Hope your Summer is going well too.

Sewing Room's

Yesterday , I read Jenny's blog about her sewing room, and it made me think about sewing space's and rooms and decided to share my own room, I am not done with it but I am enjoying it. I have several projects going on right now and one of these days I am intending to take pictures of the things I have done and things that are in progress. I love sewing and knitting and crocheting and cross stitching, that one I am still learning . I am taking on a big project with that one soon, an Afghan which is very big but beautiful , I will take a picture when I get it started. I am in the process of making more chemo hats for the center, a baby blessing dress, a cross stitch baby blanket, and 2 quilt tops at the moment. As they say "busy hands are happy hands" and my hands are busy! LOL. But I do enjoy doing it and would be lost if I couldn't .
So what is your favorite past time or talent? Maybe you have a new one that I haven't tried my hand at. Well what ever it is I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

Love to All

E F Green

This is Emery, she is a 2nd grader living with us and her mom Katie. She is a sweet little girl, a little on the shy side , but very bright and playful. She loves school and people but can be stand offish. She seems to be adjusting to being out here with us but misses Conn. a lot and especially her grandparents and aunts that she left behind.

When she got here she wanted to know what she should call me and Bruce, since we are so use to being called Grandpa and Grammy , we settled on calling us Grammy Kat, and Grandpa. First names for a child just didn't fit, and Sis and Br. Cat just was to formal. So we have a young one once again calling Grammy Cat  around the house. But for all my grand children out there, Grammy is still your grandmother and I miss you all so very much. :)

Katie and Emery seem to be settling in well. Katie has applied for a job in the school district and we are hopeful that she is hired on. It would be good for her because the hours and days would be close to Emery's. Katie seems to know what she wants out here . She even took the bus to Wal-Mart yesterday, and seems to be enjoying her adventure. We are happy to have them  and will help in any way we can to be able to help Katie get settled . Things are going very well.

As far as other things going on around here, well not much. It has been very HOT this week here, we are getting our heat at the end of summer thing now. But since it is the end of Aug. and Sept is right around the corner, it won't last long. It has been a nice summer, plenty to do and I have enjoyed it. It took a little while for me to adjust to not having kids around but we did it. Now we have them around again, and that adjustment isn't taking long at all.....lol... I guess that is our lot in life , to have a house full.:)

Well, that is it for this post I think. Hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying the tail end of summer.
Love to all,

Our extra's are here.

Katie and Emery have arrived and we are happy they are here and made it safely. They both are tired and trying to adjust. I think Emery is going to have the most adjustment as she misses her grandparents a lot, but we will try to make their stay as comfortable as possible, especially for Emery. She is only 6 years old and I can't help but believe it is hard for her to understand all of this change that has been made in her life. Any way all is well and it feels no different then having our own kids down stairs as we are so use to having some one living down there. Kids, Grammy Rose, adult children with out kids.... we are thankful for such a large house. Well , that is it for tonight so until next time... goodnight All.

Date Night

Friday night hasn't always been a date night for Bruce and I , but tonight we decided to use some gift cards we have had in the cupboard for months and even years at one of our near by restaurant. The Timbermine , it is a steak place which isn't our favorite food but they also have the best Salmon and Shrimp so that is what we had. I had steamed veggies with my Salmon and Bruce had fries with his shrimp. It was really tasty. After eating we went for a little drive in the Jag. and came home. Now we are settled in for the evening. The weekend has begun and we are looking forward to just hanging out , hope your weekend is a nice one too.

Love to All.

Lazy Tuesday

Well, thought I should get on this an say a HI to all my fan's. The summer is flying bye and before we all know it , it will be Fall (my favorite time of the year). As I look back on this summer it has been a nice one, a little on the quiet side at times, and a time of adjustments in our home. We haven't had grand children around and big children around much this summer except for our son, Chris, who has kept us on our toes now and again. I think we keep him on his toes too much of the time, trying to keep up with the ole folks as he so lovingly tells us. LOL.... Any way it has been a good summer. I have connected with golf again at the "boy's prodding" this summer, we have taken some ride's in the Jag. with the top down every time :), and many day's have been just plain quiet. But that is about to change a little around here, in about a week and 1/2 we have a friend coming out with her 7 year old daughter to stay with us for a while. Katie and Emery will be here on the 18th of Aug. She is looking for work and Emery will be going to school, they are going to rent our down stairs for a while. We look forward to their arrival, and I am looking forward to having a  "girl" friend to do some things with again since my other "girls" live so far away now. I guess all in all things never stay the same and we have to be thankful for all we have. We are glad to be able to help Katie as she gets on her feet out here.
Well, guess that is it for today. Hope all of you are enjoying the last days of summer.

Love,
Katrina

First of the garden.....

These are my first Tomatoes from my plants on the patio and I have several more. They have done very well this summer maybe that is because I have watered them so much this summer, you think that might be cause. LOL.... oh I think maybe. Any way , I have really enjoyed my patio this summer and have tried to spend time out there each day.

Pretty Patio

I wanted to take pictures of the patio this year, I don't think Stacie had a chance to take pictures of the finish patio that we worked on while she was here . We painted the patio furniture all white to go with the Rockers. I really enjoy sitting out there but it gets hot, so we put of a "curtain" so at least my Rocker is in the shade all day. I am very happy with the look. We also as you might notice took down the swing set while she was here, it looks so nice and makes it much easier to mow the back yard. Any way hope you enjoy  and some time come join me on my lovely patio.

Fourth of July 2011

Well, we had a great time on our mini vacation up north. Friday night Bruce and I went a night earlier then Chris, but he met us up there Sat. afternoon. Friday night Bruce and I checked into the hotel room, enjoyed the evening and went to bed. Sat. morning, we wanted to go to Rexburg to the Temple there, so we drove all the way to it only to find it closed because they had no water. We headed back to Idaho Falls, to the hotel as the Temple there is closed for construction. So no Temple this weekend. We went back to the hotel and ate lunch and watched tv until Chris arrived, after he got there, we got ready to go to Driggs, Idaho to see the 4th celebration with Glen Beck. It was awesome and we were there from about 5 pm until midnight. We went back to the hotel which was about an hour away or so and went to bed. Yesterday we started early and went to Yellowstone, we took lots of pictures and I will share some here with you. We got back in town around nine and went to the Outback for dinner. Then headed over to the Hotel, and went to bed.

This morning I woke up not feeling well, my stomach was yucky so we headed home and arrived around noon. It was a great time and we are so happy we went.
